New Model Helps SAP®-based Enterprises Reduce Costs While Providing One-call Access to Dedicated Service Team, Better Communication, and
Improved SAP Performance

MILWAUKEE – February 1, 2010 – Symmetry Corporation, an SAP®-certified provider of hosting services for SAP applications, today announced the official launch of its 21st Century approach to SAP support services.

Unlike the current 20th Century model, which forces SAP-based enterprises to choose between domestic support that is thorough but expensive, and offshore support that is more cost-effective but often encounters language, time and depth of knowledge barriers, the Symmetry model for SAP support services is designed to provide a faster, more proactive approach.  As such, it delivers high quality, outstanding availability and deep technical knowledge, all while driving down costs.

“Although we are already a decade into the 21st Century, most support models are a holdover from the prior century, when technology was considered a strategic advantage and pricing structures were looser,” said Dan Wilhelms, CEO of Symmetry. “Today, technology has become more of a utility, which means costs are being scrutinized more closely, and everything is being re-thought. The days of premium pricing for over-valued services are done.”

Symmetry’s 21st Century model focuses on four major areas:

  • Access and Communication – Symmetry has designed its managed service model to provide 24x7 access to a dedicated team of specialists who know your enterprise’s SAP environment intimately rather than having calls fielded randomly in a call center. These specialists operate within a larger group of full-time SAP experts with in-depth knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), CRM (Customer Relationship Management), PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), security and other areas of SAP operations and functionality. All of these resources are domestically-based, eliminating drastic time zone and language difficulties that can add stress to the environment when support is required.
  • Attitude – In Symmetry’s view, SAP support providers must manage their resources in such a way that these resources become regular, trusted members of the internal support team, while keeping costs to the enterprise manageable and affordable. Contracts should allow for the relationship to be flexible enough to accommodate the enterprise’s own resources and capabilities. In the spirit of true teamwork, the focus then becomes keeping the systems running optimally rather than trying to place blame if there is an issue.
  • A Business Approach to SAP – SAP isn’t just another “app on the net,” it’s the enterprise’s most mission-critical environment with a world of application-specific methodology and nuance. Symmetry’s 21st Century model has been created to provide experienced, on-staff consultants for day-to-day support – with expertise in every aspect of SAP functionality and operation, in any environment, on any platform, database or operating system. They not only know the technology, but they also understand the business reasoning behind it.
  • A Hosting Option – In order to provide a complete, turnkey solution with full accountability for the entire technology stack – from network to servers, database and application support – a true, full-service, 21st Century SAP support services provider will offer SAP-centric hosting as an optional service. It will offer outstanding service and security, a “safe” location and redundancy. And, because the provider is focused on SAP, it can also offer a selection of resources and approaches to the unique requirements of an SAP environment. The result for enterprises is the best configuration, availability, and cost to meet their specific needs.

“This model is very different from what SAP-based enterprises have received and accepted in the past,” Wilhelms said. “In the 21st Century model, they contract only for the services they need in a cooperative partnership with the supplier rather than an adversarial one. The contracts are generally fixed-price, too, so people can focus on solving problems and maximizing availability rather than pointing fingers and sorting out responsibilities. That will keep resources on both sides optimized and costs affordable. Everyone wins.”
