Position
The iSeries SAP Technical Administrator will be responsible for configuring, tuning, securing, and monitoring core enterprise applications built upon the IBM i running SAP applications. SAP technical training will be provided and is not a requirement for this position.
Duties
- Day-to-day monitoring and support of i5/OS
- Backup/recovery management of i5/OS
- Day-to-day SAP and system monitoring
- SAP and system administration
- SAP system troubleshooting and problem solving
- Provide recommendations and guidance for the tuning and optimization of SAP landscapes
- Research and provide directions for SAP software corrections including SAP OSS notes and SAP support packages. Manage the SAP router configuration for SAP support
- Perform or participate in periodic reviews, audits and updates to the hosting standards, process controls and technologies
- Establish operational discipline through the application of best practice policies and procedures for the SAP operations area
- Create and maintain documentation related to SAP landscape and operations
- Creation of client landscapes and client copies
- Create and maintain RFC connections
- Spool and Printer administration
- Upgrading existing Instances and Installing new instances across all platforms
- Help apply the Disaster Recovery procedures to the SAP Installations
- Configure and execute SAP change control functions including the transport management system (TMS) and batch jobs management across instances
Requirements & Qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience in operational support on the iSeries computing platform, including;
- Batch processing,
- System support and configuration
- Backup/recovery procedures
- Installing and applying PTFs
- OS Upgrades
- Knowledge of IBM's LPAR and HMC technologies
- Experience with Disaster Recovery tools such as Mimix a plus
- Experience with HelpSystems products a plus
- Prior experience providing iSeries support with any ERP package such as SAP or JD Edwards desirable
- Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
- Understanding of CL scripting language.
- Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
- Certification in IBM iSeries (Operator and/or Administrator) a plus
- Solid AS/400 administration experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Computer Science highly desirable
Location
Candidate should live or be willing to relocate to Milwaukee, WI or surrounding areas.
